Anna writes that Lisa has left us for Australia, but promised to return. In the meantime, Shane Gibney has agreed to take over as our Monday night swimming coach. We also need numbers for a second, slower lane on Monday nights. Read on for further details...
As anyone who comes to Monday night swimming in Westwood Clontarf knows Lisa has headed off to Australia this week. She will be greatly missed as I think everyone would agree that she is an excellent coach, however she has promised to come back to us if, and when, she gets back.
In the mean time Shane Gibney has agreed to take over from Lisa from next Monday. Shane is an experienced freestyle swimmer and coach, the format of the session will remain much the same, technique and drills for the first half and some distance work during the second half of the session.
A few people have started asking me when we are going to get another lane on a Monday night (7-8pm). I would really like to get this up and running but in order to be able to do so I need to be able to guarantee that we can get at least 8 people to fill the lane so that it is financially feasible.
Ideally this lane would do the same session as the existing lane but off slower times. The idea being that it would cater for swimmers who need to improve their freestyle technique and who want to be able to swim 750m/1500m comfortably by next summer.
Can anyone interested in this lane mail me annafrankland@yahoo.com ASAP?
Anna
