Well done to everyone who participated in the Galway Olympic Triathlon last Saturday. The event was a great success with 14 members of Tsunami taking part.
True to form, Tsunami featured high in the rankings with the performance of the day coming from Anna who finished 2nd in the female seniors. Éimhín put in a very strong performance to finish first of the Tsunami guys and 10th overall.

The race comprised the usual 3 elements. The 1500m swim in the Corrib sometimes felt like it would never end. With the strong current, distance to the upstream buoy never seemed to shorten.
The bike leg was a rather long 44km over undulating roads and in places rough surfaces. However, the tailwind on the return leg was much appreciated. Finally, the run certainly caused me some pain - as can be seen from the photo at the point where Éimhín pulled away!
Other great performances on the day came from Mary, who is beginning to put serious pressure on the Tsunami Female Top Spot by coming home 4th in the womens, followed by Loraine in 7th. In the mens, Dave Tilly came home a very respectable 13th followed by me in 14th. The competition should be fierce in Kilkee in 2 weeks time!
