We Came, We Saw, We Conquered. The toughest Olympic triathlon in Ireland and 20 Tsunami members completed it last Saturday. There were some great performances from the club.
We all knew Anna Frankland was serious when she turned up with her Spinergy wheels and aero-helmet. She did a fantastic race, coming second behind Christine Johnson from the UK...
First Tsunami Man home was Éimhín McManus who came 14th overall and 2nd in his age group. Tomás Kelly and Ray O?Neill both managed to finish in the elite top 30 males placing 20th and 30th respectively.
Other prizes were won by Mary Horgan and myself both coming 2nd in our age groups and 9th and 17th in the female category.
We have a new Tsunami prize category for those who stopped for tea and sandwiches during their transition. In 3rd place was Mark Healy in 3:12, 2nd place Peter Kelly with 3:34 and 1st place David Leonard with 5:37.
I think I need to mention those who picked Kilkee to be their first Olympic distance triathlon. David Leonard, Mark Healy, Sean Tracey, Peter Kelly and Thibault Candebat. There is usually a fine line between bravery and stupidity, not sure what it was in these cases, but well done guys.
Fun was had by all on Saturday night. Thankfully I got to bed before the stripping started - I heard it was not a pretty sight. There were some rumours of lust during the night but unfortunately I couldn?t get these confirmed. Maybe those who completed the fifth leg of the triathlon saw something?
