Dublin City Triathlon - News 10/09/2004

With little more than a month to go the Dublin City Triathlon is shaping up to be one of the best races in this year's calendar. Recently we have added the ability to register yourself or your team online www.dublincitytriathlon.com/race.html.

Prizes
In addition to significant cash prizes, ?500 for the first female and first male in the Olympic Distance race, generous prizes for both races are being provided by Ironman, Cyclesuperstore, Musashi, Aquasphere, Agu and Craft.

Wet Suit Rental
Cycle SuperStore (www.cyclesuperstore.ie) will be renting suits for the Dublin City Triathlon for ?30. If you decide to buy the suit the rental price will be deducted from the suit price. Suits can be collected before the race at the Cycle Superstore Shop in Tallaght on the Friday and dropped back after the race at their stand in transition.

Entry List
The list of entries so far is currently available on the site (http://www.dublincitytriathlon.com/entrants.html). Entries are coming in fast so get onto the site, signup and avoid disappointment. The entry list will be updated every 72hrs. Entries will be taken up until the 1st of Sept unless maximum capacity is reached.

Bar-B-Q
The bar-b-q menu has been agreed on and triathletes will be chowing down on burgers, sausage, baked potato and salads at this year after race party. Included in each competitors goodie bag will be a ticket guaranteeing them a bar-b-q lunch and refreshments.

Pontoon
The army will be providing a large submerging pontoon for entering and exiting the water. It?s a 20ft by 10ft railed pontoon with non-slip carpet helping competitors enter and exit safely. The same pontoon was used in the Special Olympics this year and should make for faster and easier transitions.

The HQ for the Dublin City Triathlon, for the past 10 years, has been the Garda Boat Club in Island Bridge. Over the summer the club has received a complete face lift with new changing rooms and shower facilities, a bar and lounge area and outside the club they have paved and laid new grass?great for the after party.
