Word on the street is that the Kinsale King of the Hill Triathlon 2005 is almost booked out. This is one of the most popular triathlons of the season, and for good reason. Dermot's also having his stag party in Kinsale that weekend, so there should be plenty of good clean fun to be had too. You can register for the event on ActiveEurope.com.

Demand for places seems to have gone up signifigantly since last year. Don't miss out...

The Blurb
Cork Triathlon Club's premier sprint distance event is set in the picturesque and fashionable resort town of Kinsale on the south-west coast of Ireland. About 30Km from Cork City which is Irelands second largest city and European Capital of Culture 2005. Kinsale town renowned for its fine food and historic sites nestles between hills and shoreline. The scenic location provides an attractive backdrop for this short but demanding triathlon. It's not called King of the Hill for nothing! The event starts on the outskirts of Kinsale with a 750m swim at the Dock Beach a nice sheltered strand within Kinsale harbour itself. After the swim and the short run to transition the competitors then set off on a 20K cycle along the Bandon River Estuary and through the Kinsale countryside with some small yet testing hills. After the return to transition the best is yet to come as the runners are immediately faced with a 1Km steep climb. A tough endurance test at the best of times and the last thing you need after a 20Km bike sprint. The runners have the opportunity to recover as they descend this hill on the other side. The course then levels off as you race towards Sandycove beach for the turnaround. On the return leg the athletes are faced with the reverse and this gives a very fast finish as the line is at the bottom of the initial climb. Don't miss the opportunity to test your mettle in this exciting event.
