Neil O'Brien and Carl Petersen of The Sports Performance Centre www.sportperformancecentre.net, are going to hold a free seminar for all club members , in Irishtown Sports Stadium on Wednesday the 6th of December from 8-10 p.m. Neil and Carl will speak and advise on Sports Nutrition and designing Triathlon training programmes.
This seminar will comprise of two 1/2 hour lectures followed by a question and answer opportunity on:
1.Topic 1- Sports Nutrition-Enhancing recovery and maximising performance in Triathlon
2.Topic 2-Training Zones, Thresholds, VO2 max and other Science jargon-Explaining Physiology for Triathlon.
Neil O'Brien- BSc (Biochemistry)Hons, PGDip Nutrition and Food Science, PG Medical Toxicology. An Ironman, Neil works as a Medical Toxicologist, in addition to being SPD's Sport Nutritionist. Having a biochemistry backround Neil has an in depth understanding of how the body works at a molecular level and responds to exercise.Neil undertakes nutritional analyses and developes training and competion diets to optimise recovery and event performance .
Carl Petersen, MPhED (Excercise Physiology)PGDip Sport Medicine, Carl has been working full time as a Sports Scientist for over 7 years. Carl specialises in conducting sport specific fitness assessmentsand designing trianing programmes for elite athletes in a number of different sports.Carl looks to optimise an athlete's fitness through analysing their training responses and fine tuning their traing programme
