Wheelworx Bike Workshop

Reminder - this takes place on Friday coming. Sign up if you are interested - Also add questions for Rob to answer - thanks frank

Problems with punctures? Bad brakes? Grinding gears?

Rob Cummins from Wheelworx will be running a Bike Workshop for all levels (beginners to advanced) in Ringsend Stadium on Friday 23rd March from 7-9pm. Learn how to maintain and fix the bike basics yourself, and be prepared for the race season. There will also be a questions and answers session. If you would like to attend please post up your name so Jen can keep a eye on numbers. Post up any particular topics or questions that you would would like Rob to go through. These will be added to the list we already have.

Thanks to Wheelworx - www.wheelworxbikes.com for their support of the club. They will be launching their new site in the next few months so look out for that...

Reminder that the bike maintenance evening is on this Friday. I have 27 names on my list. Please let me know if you have not got your name down and wish to attend.

Jen

We also need a couple of bikes for demonstration purposes. I suggest a beginner who may not have their bike set up correctly brings their racer, and tri bars of they have them. A time trial/tri bike would also be great (don't worry, we won't mess up your bike fit!).

My question / topic - how to fix a chain if it snaps during a race or if you are up the mountains on a long training cycle.

A nice sturdy multi-tool with a chain breaker.

Rejoin the chain removing any mangled links if needs be.

Really if you maintain the bike and replace the chainset once a year shouldn't happen. (It has happened to me a bit on my commuter)

Please include me also.

I'd like to know whether cleat positionings on one bike will necessarily fit on another bike as i have a commuting bike and a tri bike and am not sure what works on one works on the other and vice versa.

Count me in to attend Perhaps another topic that Rob could address is :- What would be the best "Bang for your buck" (i.e time improvements for € spent) when thinking of upgrading components or other cycling equipment/gear, asssuming that you already have a half decent bike. Regards P

Thanks to Rob for an excellent training course. I think everyone got something out of it, from beginners to Ironmen.
