Piranha are delighted to announce that Loraine (Creane) has agreed to be the Dublin City Triathlon 2007 Race Director. Loraine has a wealth of triathlon experience both as a competitor and member of the race organising committee for the DCT, where she has undertaken numerous diverse roles over the past number of years, so we’re delighted that she has agreed to be Race Director.
The organisation for the 2007 race will be getting in to full swing over the next couple of weeks. A lot of work has already been done on the new website, and the new DCT 2007 race committee has been put in place following our request for volunteers on the website a while back. We plan to make DCT 2007 even bigger and better than last year, which was the biggest and best yet and won the Triathlon Ireland Race of the Year.
We need all of you to help out to make the race possible. By way of explanation for those new to the club, Piranha organises the DCT, in order to raise funds to run the club for the following year, and to provide a great national race for all triathletes (each club of a reasonable size in the country undertakes to organise at least one race in order to have a workable national series). It is vital that the club raise funds in this way, as it is not sustainable based on members’ subscriptions alone (swimming lane rental, coaches fees etc.). So, by helping out with the race, you are enabling the club to exist and provide training for the following year!
So please volunteer to help out, on the big day itself (25th Aug) and beforehand in whatever capacity you can. Loraine or one of the DCT committee will be providing details soon. Aside from ensuring you get great training from the club next year, it’s a great way to get to know everyone else in the club, and a great day on race day.
