I know the main party of the year is on this saturday : ) but the TI Awards last year were a blast and it seems this year will be even better. Its a special event too celebratating 25 yrs in triathlon .

As per liz posting - The combined Triathlon Ireland Awards Dinner and Celebration of 25 Years of Triathlon in Ireland celebration is filling up fast. If you want a place please email sinead.rowland@gmail.com before Monday 19 November. Payment should be made by cheque to the Triathlon Ireland admin address.

Read on for the full details and sign up below if going along so we can organise piranha tables.

Don't you just dig the photo......the vidoes should be sweet!

As well as a presentation of Awards we'll be celebrating the 25 year anniversary of Triathlon in Ireland. We've uncovered footage of the early races, to be shown on the night. Some of the original Pioneers of the sport are coming to entertain us with some tales of the early days of the sport. With music and dancing to finish off the night.

So do you want to see hear some entertaining stories of the days before tri-wetsuits were even dreamed of; when aero bars were something you ate, rather than fixed to your bike; when people got interviewed by RTE in transition; when the height of Tri fashion was polka dots (see below)? Reserve your ticket, or a table before Monday. Guest speakers on the night: Tom O'Donnell (ex ITA & ETU president, veteran of every single Kilkee); Joan and Michael Griffin - the original triathlon husband and wife partnership; Dave O'Connor - a veteran of Hawaii and many Sligo races; and Desi McHenry on the podium at the start and still making it there now - Hawaii qualifier back then, and in 2007, and many stories to tell about the journey.

Triathlon Ireland look forward to your company on the night.
