A shoal of Piranhas headed west for the second of our designated NS races. TI squad member, Con Doherty, won the race, giving an insight into the level of an elite athlete. Veteran racer Ivan Eustace was the first Piranha male home, just ahead of fast-improving Killian Nolan, who ran out of road in chasing Ivan. Both men were in the top twenty overall, while Ross Condy and Cathal O’Sullivan were just outside following impressive performances.

Jacqui Dunphy again led the Piraha women home (for more on Jacqui, see the recent Irish Times’ health supplement!). Shannon Kelly and Siobhan Forman were next home, the latter powered by a strong bike leg. Numerour Pirahas achieved age group podiums, while Roisin Pakenham won hers. Others can provide the details of the night out!

There is only a short break until the Jailbreak race in Cobh, the first olympic-distance race on our calendar. That briefing will follow early next week.
