To get our 2018 cycling training kicked off, we will be meeting at Westwood in Clontarf at 8.50am for a 9.00am departure.
Group 1 will be doing a route (approximately 50/60km) with Bike Lead John Lyons – towards Dalkey.
Group 2 will be doing a route (approximately 50/60km) with Bike Lead John Clarke – heading northwards.
Group 3 will be doing a route (approximately 70/80km) with Bike Lead Dave O’Shea – out to Skerries.
Remember, if you are heading out on the club spin, please wear some sort of high-vis jacket/gilet to ensure you are visible to all drivers on the road.
And as always, please remember good bike discipline while out on the roads:
** There is one cycle lead – and that person is responsible for the route.
** Tight two by two groups, with regular up-and-overs and with a single-file transition are the hallmarks of a disciplined cycle group. No “half wheeling”!
** Each group has a target average speed – this should be maintained. Surges in speed (lead from the front) leads to a dragging-out of the group and members get left behind.
** Traffic lights must be obeyed – pedestrian and traffic!
** Groups should not break-up on the flat. If they do, then they should re-group as soon as reasonably practicable.
