Our resident club swim coaches, Tim Kiernan & Kris Szczuroski, will host the first Open Water Swim Training Day on Saturday 7th May 2016. The training will take place in Dollymount Strand, the beach adjacent to Bull Wall.

This training day is for all club members, with the ‘New to Tri’/’Improver’ swimmers having their own dedicated session beforehand. There is no swim session for improvers in Westwood on Saturday 7th May. This is an excellent opportunity for New to Tri members to attend a coached open water swim dedicated to them. There will be a safety kayak and markers, along with experienced club swimmers in the water with you. The session will take place in shallow water where you can stand up at all times. Please ensure you wear a brightly coloured swim hat. Even though the sun comes out for all Piranha events, hot drinks and biscuits will be available on the day. An opportunity not to be missed with race season within touching distance.

The session will start at 11.00am sharp for improvers, that means in your wetsuit and at the waters edge for 11.00am. This is important as it will have a knock on for the group after, and could potentially cause problems on a cold day. Session will finish at 11.45am sharp.

The outdoor session for Intermediates & Advanced swimmers will start at 11.45am and run until 12.30. This will take place at the same location on Dollymount Strand.

Intermediate & Advanced volunteers are requested to assist with the New to Tri Session at 11.00am to help with ensuring the session is as safe and enjoyable as possible.

What to do between now and the 7th May?

New to Tri Group/Improver Swimmers – Post in comments below if you are attending, stating that you are an improver.

Inter & Advanced Swimmers – Post in the comments below that you are available to assist at 11.00am and/or swimming at 11.30. State whether Inter or Advanced.

All – Keep going to swim training!

See you all there,
Ronan
