The 2017 National Mixed Team Relay Club Championships will be hosted by Lough Cutra Castle Triathlon in Co. Galway on Saturday May 27th. The race will staged on the same day as the individual sprint events, allowing athletes to double up – racing the shorter distance race later in the day.

The race format will be run to ITU standards and is identical to the hugely popular elite level team triathlon, with each team made up of four athletes – two male and two female. Each athlete completes a super-sprint distance triathlon (approx 200 meter swim, 5km draft legal bike and 1.5km run) before tagging their team mate. The starting format is 1st Female – 1st Male – 2nd Female – 2nd Male. Each athlete tags his or her teammate inside the ‘Relay Zone’ and the first team to cross the line is the winner.

We have a strong team registered to represent Piranha:

  • Shannon Kelly
  • Claire Gorman
  • Ivan Eustace
  • Anthony Mulholland

The Club are hoping to field more teams however. If you are interested in representing your club in this format please contact Training Coordinator Tom McEnery (training@piranhatri.com) or either of our National Series Captains Siobhan Forman or Richie Doyle
