1) Club awards

Club awards for 2014 are as follows:

Club Champs
Male Club Champion (Hook or by Crook) – James Hoare
Female Club Champion – Vivienne Fenton
Highest Rank NS Male – James Hoare. However, in the interest of fair distribution of prizes, one person cannot win more than one prize, so this was awarded to the next in line, Richard Doyle
Highest Rank NS female – Katie Fitzgerald
Club Spirit -awarded to Bernard Hanratty
Best new male – Anthony Mulholland
Best new female – Sinead Lambe
Most improved male – Declan Cunningham
Most improved female – Aileen Flynn
Best Race Report –Tie – Ellen Shilling & Steven Moody

3) AGM & New Committee 2014 / 2015

Notice of AGM

Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of Piranha Triathlon Club will take place at the Spencer Hotel, North Wall Quay, Dublin 1 at 8pm on Saturday 11th October 2014 to transact the following business:

           1) Receipt and approval of the Annual Report in the form of a presentation by relevant members of the Committee on the activities of the Club during the past year.
           2) Receipt and adoption of the Balance Sheet and Income and Expenditure accounts;
           3) Election of Officers and Committee Members;
           4) Consideration of resolutions of which notice has been given.
           5) Transaction of any general business.

Committee Nominations & Motions

Nominations for positions on Committee & Motions are invited from eligible members by Monday 6th October, 2014. They should be submitted via email to Club Secretary, Phil Sykes, at (clubsecretary@piranhatri.com) or by Private Message on the Club Forum .

Accounts are available in advance of the AGM on request from Club Treasurer, John Staunton.

The Eligibility criteria for attendance and voting at the AGM is:
                • Members must be over 17 years of age
                • Membership fees must be paid.

The following is a list of Committee positions with an indication of those current members who have indicated a willingness to continue and those who are stepping down and for whose positions nominations are sought. This is your opportunity to get more involved in the direction and day to day running of Piranha – a rewarding experience! Don’t be shy in putting your name forward.

Chairman – Cillian Balfe is stepping down. Bernard Hanratty has been nominated for this position.

The Club Chairperson is responsible for co-ordinating the running and operation of the club, organising and chairing committee meetings with a view to defining and achieving club goals and objectives, and acting as an official club contact and representative.

Secretary – Phil Sykes is going forward for re-election.

Duties include:

  • The Secretary maintains the minutes in a club record book, which serves as the official record of the club’s activities. Member attendance records of both regularly scheduled and special meetings are maintained by the Secretary.
  • The Secretary also acts as an additional contact point for the Club and attends to relevant administrative tasks, communications on behalf of the Club and liaison with Triathlon Ireland.

Training – Team COB (Ciara Ni Fhlathartaigh, Owen Percy & Brendan O’Brien) are all stepping down. Ciara will stay on in a supporting role to help with transition to new Training Team.

The structure going forward for the Training Team will be altered from the previous year to both reduce workload and streamline delivery of training at discipline level. A more detailed framework will be made available to the incoming team.

Training Structure:

Lead Training Co-ordinator Role:

  •  Provision of higher level co-ordination across all three disciplines to ensure appropriate integration of training structures
  • Interface with Dig Deep in delivery of training days and overall guidance as to specific training requirements of the club. 
  • Representation on Club Committee for all aspects associated with delivery of club training including the following.
          – Escalation of discipline specific issues as identified by discipline captains
          – To develop, implement and review as necessary recruitment procedures for all coaches and assistant coaches
         – Maintaining awareness of financials related to club training costs

Discipline Captain Role:

  • Work with Lead Co-ordinator and other Discipline Captains to ensure that the training needs of all members are met as effectively as possible.
  • Liaise with Lead Coaches to ensure the delivery of periodised and appropriate training sessions for each discipline
  • Ensure that all members are aware of club sessions via adequate marketing strategies and to promote attendance where possible
  • Identification of deficits/additional requirements in existing training structures and timely escalation of same to Lead Co-ordinator
  • Respond to queries specific to each discipline via mail when required – each discipline will have an individual email address.

Nominations:
Lead Co-ordinator: Anthony Mulholland has been nominated
Run Captain: Brendan O’Brien has been nominated
Swim Captain: Paul’ODonovan has been nominated
Cycle Captain: No nominations to date

Marketing & PR: Ellen Shilling is stepping down. Steven Moody has been nominated for this role. 

The main roles of the Marketing, Web and PR officer is –

  • Update the website, activate and manage all accounts.
  • Post stories and source race reports.
  • Keep Facebook and Twitter up to date.
  • All website admin.
  • Deal with queries re piranha from members thinking of joining.
  • Manage any additions to the website – e.g. bike boxes, gear shop. Paypal account, etc.
  • Creating and distributing monthly newsletters.
  • Writing & distributing press releases and handling press queries.
  • Sourcing and organising triathlon related seminars and workshops.
  • Helping out with the marketing of club events – e.g. new to tri night.

Membership – Barry McIntyre & Louise Bennett are both going forward for re-election.

The main roles of the membership officer(s) are –

  • Keep membership list up to date.
  • Supply Westwood with regular updates of membership list
  • Check bank accounts for all SO payments on a monthly basis
  • Process any new membership requests
  • Make sure all members have TI membership and are insured to train.

Finance– John Staunton will go forward for re-election

The main role of the Treasurer is to

  • Oversee the financial affairs of the Club and plan for its ongoing financial viability
  • Manage the Club financial accounts, and report on financial status to committee and members
  • Operate the Club’s financial process, managing bank accounts and all related invoicing and payment matters for the Club

Social & Gear – Petrina Mulroe will step down. Emer Tighe has indicated that she will run for election.

The main roles of the Events (Social & Gear) officer are –

  • Organise variety of social events during the year (Xmas party, JD post run, Club Champs afters, T.I. Awards night and any other random social activity that may arise.)
  • AGM – organise nominations & prizes/trophies for all awards, locate and collate presentations.
  • Organise any other random ideas that arise during the year!
  • Gear – two orders per year – winter and preseason. Link with PR officer to activate gear shop & treasurer re payment & discounts, coordinate distribution of gear to members

New to Triathlon Programme – Hugh Larkin will step down. Nominations are invited for this role.

A rewarding position to coordinate members who are New to Triathlon. Things on your to-do list will include:

  • Create a calendar of events for the New to Tri programme (e.g. http://www.cloverock.info/piranha/oldsite/training/new-to-tri)
  • Organise events such as: Club Open Night, Transition Training, Coffee Morning, Mini Triathlon in the West Wood
  • Track down and harass new members into signing up for races!
  • Choose a race for the New to Triathlon Club Championship.
