KeymasterPaul Mooney the small lad from Cork with the big heart takes on the challenge of Ironman Lanza (mainly because he did not realise Ironman did other races in non-hilly, windy, lava landscaped lands) ….
We wish him all the very best and look forward to the upcoming novel he shall be writing afterwards …. “I did it my way”…..
Go get them tiger

Phil SykesParticipantBest of luck, Paul. Look forward to hearing all about it.
If you could take the Club Iron Man Record off Moody, it would be a big help! 🙂
Safe travels,
Phil

Paul MooneyParticipantThanks for all the messages guys, I keep telling Steve Small Paul is not my birth given name but he is insistent on reminding me he is 1cm taller. Haha
Huge thanks to Myles who were the Piranha colours, I would have crossed the line with you if you had kept it on haha. But thanks for the support it was brill. Il be in Rita 66 tonight if you want to join us.
Got a little lost on the swim but 1:13 isn’t too bad il work on it. The Bike was Hell and there is no other way to describe it. 50km gusts. I regret renting the Tri Bike as it made climbing hills impossible. Should have brought my “Contador” bike haha. Lesson learnt.
I actually swore to myself I’d never do the course ever again. But 24 hours later I’m ready to sign up. Training needs to be better. And it will be.
The Run itself was fine I could have done the 3:30 I reckon if I had burned out on the bike. Never seen so many people walk the run course.
Will enjoy a drink tonight ahead of Athy.
