Piranha Triathlon Club is welcoming expressions of interest from talented Under 23 (over 18) athletes for our Youth Bursary Programme. This initiative supports promising young triathletes aiming to reach elite level in Ireland.
Piranha TC are proud to recognise our 2024/2025 bursary recipients, Saoirse O’Brien and Sean McMahon, who have enjoyed outstanding seasons. Saoirse has climbed the World and Continental Rankings, become National Duathlon Champion, won Dublin City Triathlon & Skerries, and represented Ireland in Oran, Olsztyn & Larache. Sean is now training at the Irish High Performance Centre in Limerick and has represented Ireland in Riga and Caorle.
If you are interested in being considered, please email chair@piranhatri.com by 19 December, 2025 for further details. In your application should include:
• Your 400m swim time
• Your 3k or 5k run time
• A short note on how you would benefit from the programme and your potential as a future elite triathlete.
Successful applicants will be over 18, based in Dublin and eligible to race under 23’s races in the 2026 season
The full bursary is to the value of €500 and may include the following:
- Membership of Piranha Triathlon Club for one year.
- Access to all Piranha bike, run, swim, open water sessions and workshops (e.g. talks about nutrition, bike maintenance and training) during the bursary year.
- Access to Piranha club coaches.
- Access to Piranha discounts e.g. bike fitting and bike shops.
- Piranha tri-suit.
- Entry to Dublin City Triathlon race.
- Funding to assist with triathlon expenses (e.g. gear, race entries and travel).
Please note: The Youth Bursary is a competitive selection process and only awarded where suitable candidates are identified.
