    Hi,

I need to pick up a new floor pump. I had planned to pick up the first one I came across (€25/€30) but then I was thinking…Is it necessary to bring your own floor pump if you’re going to a big event in UK/Europe or is there plenty of pumps available at the big races? If it’s necessary to bring your own pump, I might make more of an effort to look for a compact one that will travel easily.

Any thoughts/relevant personal experience on the matter?

    Cheers,
    Paddy.

Don’t mind will you use it at events. Will you use it at home? In my experience you want to check tires before every cycle. That’s where you get the value out of it.

In races. There will always be one about.

Thanks for your thoughts Mark. Yep, always pump and check tyres for any issues before I head out for a spin.

My pump lost out badly in a battle with the rear wheel of my car so before I invest in a replacement I wanted to check if it was worth making the effort to get a compact one that would be easy to transport if I wanted/needed to use it overseas.

    Paddy.
