Piranha Memorial Run Update

November 27, 2020 Leave your thoughts Posted under

The Piranha Memorial Run is an annual event organised by Piranha to honour members who have passed away and raise much needed funds for charity. For the past number of years this event has raised in excess of €2,000 which we divide equally between the Irish Cancer Society and the Karen Fenton Ovarian Cancer Fund.  Due to COVID restrictions, we are unable to host the memorial run. We know it has been a very tough year for everyone but we ask if you can donate, please do. We would love to raise money and continue to support for the Irish Cancer Society and the Karen Fenton Ovarian Cancer Fund.

For any of our new members who have yet to experience our memorial run, it’s a great club social occasion for members, family and friends. We all descend on St Anne’s Park with a Piranha tent, Piranha flags, all decked out in club gear and take part in the ParkRun.  Some members help with marshalling and supporting  the majority of Piranhas who opt to get competitive and race the 5km with the hope of a late season 5km PB. The male and female race winners are awarded the John Davis trophy and Karen Fenton trophy.

We are hopeful the Piranha memorial run will be back better than ever in 2021.

If you can, please help us to support two charities very close to our club. Thank you.
