Warm weather training is back!!

Still places available!!! One or two people mentioned they were thinking about it. Pay day is coming up so its a good time to book flights!!

Trip is planned 14th-21st April.

Destination is Aguilas near Alicante in the south of Spain so expect a nice break from Irish weather! Aguilas is where Triathlon sends their elite squads as well as the junior squads. That is an advantage because as well as being good enough for elites to train in meaning its more than good enough for our sorry selves it also means coach Elena is well familiar with the set-up.

To try and get our annual trip up and running again and because the club loves ye kidz so much the club have agreed to contribute to the cost. The return bus transfer to and from the airport as well as the hire of the pool will be covered by the club. This is approximately a 750 euro contribution.

The nearest airport is Murcia (approx 80km). It is up to people to book their own flights and arrange transfer of their own bikes if they intend bringing them.

Ryanair flight –

FlightFR 7094:Saturday 14th : Dept Dublin 16.25-  Arrive Murcia 20.20

FlightFR 7095: Saturday 21st : Dept Murcia 20.45- Arrive Dublin 22.40

Bus transfer (+trailer for bikes) to and from the airport and hotel will be co-ordinated with this flight.

Both Ryanair and AerLingus fly to Alicante airport which is approximately 120km away. However, the flight times are later in the day but that is an option for anyone who likes but you will have to arrange your own transfer.

Accomodation is at the Hotel Puerto Juan Montiel (http://www.hotelpuertojuanmontiel.com/es/index.html).

Again this is the hotel used by TI and reports from Elena are very positive. Rate is a very competitive 29euros a night for half-board (breakfast and dinner). This also includes- room to keep all equipment/ bikes, free Access to the Fitness Area (during Spa open timetable) and free internet in the common areas.

Accommodation is based in suites with 2 or 3 rooms or double room. The two bedroom suite has two bath and one toilet and a shared sitting –room. Single rooms available on request.

I have sourced bike hire (aluminium/carbon road bikes). The quote I have is 107 euros for the week. I am trying to get a better quote and am still looking but take that as the most expensive it will be when deciding if you want to bring your own bike or not. Bike rental includes lock, water bottle (yours to KEEP), spare tube, cyclometer, tire levers, mini pump & multi tool. You also have the choice of flat or cage pedals or you may bring your own pedals or rent pedals.

There is a 25 metre pool approximately 5 min walk away that we will reserve lanes in and also sea swimming sessions will be done so bring wetsuit.

Biking is excellent through-out the area.

There are plenty of run options including beach front, off-road and track.

Jack Meade our swim coach and Elena Maslova our head coach will accompany the trip and provide the excellent and expert coaching.

Depending on numbers expect to pay approximately 50 euros to cover coaching expenses for the week.

As has been done in previous years-Book your own flight(+/- bike), we will co-ordinate hotel booking but you pay your own bill on departure.

Book early to avoid disappointment. Post up if going. Details of deposit etc.. in due course.
