New to Tri: Week 7 – Gráinne

Last weekend, after some hen party celebrations, I made my way to Limerick to check out the European Duathlon. I missed watching the open race on the Sunday but managed to see all of the Elite men’s race. It was great seeing these world class athletes in action in my home town. I had my camera at the ready to try and catch the action. But to be honest I wasn’t quite expecting the speeds at which they were running!!! Nearly missed a lot of shots 🙂 Watching them mount their bikes made my mouth drop as they made it look so easy.

Swimming this week was good. Managed to head to the gym myself after missing the Sunday session. I did the time trial of 400m in 7min 44sec, 2 sec slower than last time which I’m pleased with considering I’d had two weekends of hen parties.

As I’m in Kilkee for the Easter weekend I’ve fantastic locations to cycle and a beach to run on, which is working out well for my foot 🙂 On the improvement front, I managed to take a drink while still cycling yesterday without falling off.
So the next four days have similar plans, run in the morning dependant on the foot, followed by a cycle in the afternoon. All this sunshine is great encouragement 🙂 Yesterday’s cycle

Happy Easter
