Thanks, John. I have done Athy Sprint, Crooked Lake Sprint, Belfast Titanic Olympic and Caroline Kearney Olympic – all down as National Series races. My performances might not have been stellar but presumably I should have some points? I don’t make the list at all – should I get on to TI and ask for clarification or have I missed something?

    Cheers,

    Phil

Good video footage and photos on TI website (click through to photos) – including a series of Mr Wallnutt demonstrating how to drink on the run!

Great day – congratulations to everyone involved. I was wrecked by the time the weekend was all over: harder than doing the race itself?

Well done also to the Piranha’s who participated in the race on a tough day out. It was great to see the Cat 1 Piranhas in action showing us all how it should be done. And fantastic to see Vodafone out in such enthusiastic numbers – lead from the front by the boss.

Well done, Gav, Dara and the Team leaders who co-ordinated us all so well.

Congratulations to all the competitors at the weekend. Great to see so many Piranhas in action.

I’d like to give a particularly big shout out to Paul Curtayne who was the lead Technical Official at Caroline Kearney and did a super job to ensure the race was safe and properly run. As a Club we have to provide Technical Officials to races during the year in order to qualify to have our own race (DCT) as a Triathlon Ireland sanctioned event. We are extremely grateful to those who volunteer to fulfil this role and who do this work quietly in the background. Thanks a million, Paul!

See you all at DCT if not before.

Congratulations, those are fantastic results from Kinsale. Well done guys.

We had tough weather conditions in Belfast but a good turnout of Piranhas who finished in the following order: Declan Cunningham, Steven Moody, Frank Kehoe, Michael Barry, Ciaran Long, Linda Clarke, Michael Foley and me brining up the rear (I was just making sure no one got left behind!). It is worth noting that Linda Clarke was 11th out of the water overall (out of over 420 or so athletes) and first female out of the water – and she told me she hasn’t been doing that much swimming recently! Also, for those who were on the Warm Weather Training trip, Jean Wallace (I think of 3D) who was on the camp with us was 3rd overall in the female race.

    Cheers,

I’m going to try and be at Seapoint tonight. Don’t wait for me, though as I’m only doing a short-ish swim.

    Hope to see you there.

    Hi Emeric,

Welcome to Piranha. We met in the pool at your first session but I have been away since. I’m not doing the Howth Aquathlon but will no doubt see you at training soon. As Hugh mentioned, helping out at the DCT is great fun and a good chance to meet up with lots of other Piranhas over the course of the weekend.

    Cheers,

    Phil

Thanks. With a torn calf muscle two weeks before race day, it was touch and go as to whether I’d be able to race. Thankfully, I made it round and finished but not in a fast time. The whole weekend was an amazing experience – will do a race report. The final French athlete to go in the Sprint relay took gold by not putting his running shoes on and stole enough time out of T2 to win. The finish chute went ballistic as he crossed the line barefoot pursued by the Swiss and the Brits.

    Back from holiers next week.

    Cheers,

    Phil

Absolutely – come along. Not everyone can make every session but we are hoping to have video recorded versions available courtesy of Cathal if the quality is good enough. The sessions are good, very interactive and cover a broad range of issues, so although we are focussing on cycling tonight the questions from the floor may throw up other interesting issues many of which are transferable to other disciplines and, indeed, life in general.

See you this evening: Maldron Hotel, Cardiff Lane @ 7.30pm – if you run a bit late, come on anyway. We’re in the Miranda Guinness suite on the 1st Floor: left out of the lift and right at the end of the corridor. Hopefully there won’t be an AC/DC concert on at the Aviva as this caused mayhem last week. Apologies to any headbangers!

Well done, Will. Fantastic result and well deserved. Congratulations to all the others as well. Good luck to others with races still to come.

Moody, you’re still a legend in my book and wore the crown with honour!
